… advancing God’s global and urban mission
Because our covenant God loves all people, we are called to go and make disciples of all the nations. We gratefully seek to take Christ to our city and the world. Journey to the World does this through direct involvement, partnerships, and through missionary support. For more information about ways you can serve, or you want to know more about global missions, please contact our church office today at 687-1628. The Journey currently supports the following missionaries: Andrea Cooper | Andrea Cooper is serving in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. She is in her third year of teaching at a local elementary school which enrolls both native and foreign students. Although the school is Christian in nature, many of the families who send their children to the school are not. In addition to being an outreach to those students, her teaching allows missionary parents the freedom to pursure their calling in the area.
| Cindy Hoover | Medical care is a door opener for Covenant missionary Cindy Hoover who has invited a number of communities to use medicine for mission through a program called "Semillas de Salud" (Seeds of Health). Hoover has spent much time in the isthmus region of Oaxaca training local church members to do screening tests for diabetes and hypertension and to work with them on how to initiate health ministries in their own communities. | Wally Long | Wally directs the efforts of Serenity Seekers in Wichita, Kansas. While based upon the twelve-step program model, Serenity Seekers is unashamedly Christian in nature, looking to Jesus as the source of strength. The group uses a Serenity Bible to walk through each “step” with scripture references that encourage honest interaction while uncovering the reality of our sin, the hope of reconciliation with others, and the promise of peace in Christ.
| Val and Meg Newton | Val and Meg serve with World Impact in Florence, Kansas. Morning Star Ranch is World Impact’s Christian training center for inner-city young men ages 18-25. These young men are prepared to assume roles of servant leadership in their families; in their place of vocation; in their community; and in their churches. Means of developing servant leadership are Bible teaching, one-on-one relationships, vocational training, academic training, sports, and hands-on ministry.
| Pastor Pawar | Pastor Pawar serves in Awava, Nasik, Maharashtra, India.
| Tim and Helen Smith | Tim and Helen Smith are preparing to serve in Congo after years of working in Equatorial Guinea providing Christian Education and Discipleship.
| Ariel Tatum | Ariel serves in South Africa with Youth With a Mission. She is nearing the end of her initial two year committment and is in the process of discerning her long term plans.
